Study of Common Medicinal Plant Resources and their Diversity in Henan Province

Abstract Objective To investigate and analyze the status and diversity of common medicinal plant resources in Henan Province. Methods This study systematically investigated the common medicinal plant resources and their diversity including species, families,genera,areal - types,and medicinal parts of Henan Province based on field work,sample collection and literature search. Results The results showed that there was a total of 484 common medicinal species belonging to 335 genera and 125 families, among which angiosperms had 97 families,321genera and 443 species,gymnosperms had 7 families,8 genera and 12 species, ferns had 11families,13 genera and 15 species,bryophytes had 10 families,13 genera and 14 species. Dominant families were from Compositae,Liliaceae,Fabaceae,Rosaceae,Liliaceae et al. Cynanchum,Artemisia ,Lilium,Euphorbia,Chloranthus et al were the dominant genera. The flora analysis showed that the complex and varied areal - types were mainly of temperate elements. The regions of north temperate,pantropic,old world temperate and widespread constituted the main medicinal flora of the area. By the perspective of plant parts used as medicinal materials,herba,radix and rhizoma were the mostly types. Conclusion - This study analyzed the status and diversity of common medicinal plant resources in Henan,and provided a reference for the processing and comprehensive utilization.
