In vitro Experiment of Inhibiting Bacteria of Sophora alopecuroides L. and Other Xinjiang Medicinal Plants

Abstract [ Objective ] Bacteriostasis in vitro of medicinal plant in Xinjiang, such as Achnatherum inebrians, Sophora alopecuroides L. , Glycyrrhiza aspera and Gromwell, was studied. [ Method ] The minimum inhibiting concentration （ MIC ） of these herbs on selected pathogens was measured by K-B test. [ Result] The root of Sophora alopecuroides L. showed strong inhibiting effect on S. typhimurium, with MIC 6.25 %. The root of Achnatherum inebrians had strong inhibiting effect on Staphylococcus aureus, with MIC 12.5 %. [ Conclusion ] The four kind of herbs grown in Xinjiang had different bacteriostasis effect on different pathogens, among which, Sophora alopecuroides L. showed stronger bacteriostasis effect.
