Abstract The Far East population of Chinese silver grass (Miscanthus sinensis Anderss.) was introduced in West Siberia. A variety with altered root system structure was isolated that formed long shoots with leader buds. This variety rapidly colonizes soil to form contiguous and even bed without tussocks. With common agricultural operations, the yield of dry biomass containing about 40 % cellulose is 10-15 t/ha dry mass.
Species covered 芒 Miscanthus sinensis
