Medicinal plant resources and their diversity analysis in Chengkou county as the type locality,Chongqing

Abstract Based on the literature available,the present study focused on the medicinal plant resources and their diversity analysis in Chengkou county as the type locality,Chongqing. The results showed there were 172 medicinal plant species in 97 genera and 50 families with the type locality of Chengkou county. Of these,the rare,endangered and endemic plant resources accounted for 29. 07% of the total medicinal species,including one of the class I national priority species and three species endemic to Chongqing. The checklist was provided herein. The dominant families were Compositae,Umbelliferae,Ranunculaceae,Balsaminaceae and Primulaceae. The dominant genera were Impatiens,Saussurea,Arisaema and Primula. Perennial herbs were the majority life form,accounting for 55. 81% of the total medicinal plant species. The number of species used by its whole plant and root accounted for 45. 35% and 32. 56%,respectively. The present study provids scientific evidence for development of Daodi herbs in Chengkou county,Chongqing.
