蛇床子：伞形科植物蛇床Cnidium monnieri （L. ）Cuss．的干燥成熟果实。夏、秋二季果实成熟时采收，除去杂质，晒干。
黄连：毛茛科植物黄连Coptis chinensis Franch.、三角叶黄连Coptis deltoidea C．Y．Cheng et Hsiao或云连Coptis teeta Wall.的干燥根茎。以上三种分别习称“味连”、“雅连”、“云连”。秋季采挖，除去须根和泥沙，干燥，撞去残留须根。
